As the number of victims of the crown grows in different parts of the country, the Interior Ministry ordered the deployment of an army in all the provinces, the federal capital, Gilgit-Baltistan and AJK. This is the last measure taken by the government to contain the infection.
This step was taken in accordance with article 131-A of the Constitution. Earlier, the Prime Minister’s Special Assistant for Information and Broadcasting, Dr. Firdaus Ashiq Awan, said on Monday that Prime Minister Imran Khan had met requests from provincial governments to find military personnel to assist civil authorities.
Punjab and Balochistan joined Sindh to get help from the army to contain a new coronavirus outbreak in their respective provinces, as most of the country is in a closed position. Sindh was completely blocked on Monday, while Punjab and Azad Jammu Kashmir governments announced a complete block as of Tuesday.
On Monday night, the Pakistani Army Corps commanders held a video conference to discuss the situation that arose as a result of the coronavirus outbreak in the country. Presiding over the conference of corps commanders of the Pakistani Army General Staff, Army Chief of Staff (COAS) Kamar Javed Bajwa said the army will continue to serve and defend the nation. He said that nothing can beat a brave and responsible nation.
According to the Inter-Service Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistani army, an outbreak of coronavirus in the country was the only agenda for the conference. Corps commanders attended the video conference and reviewed measures to protect people and prevent the new coronavirus, also known as COVID-19. Conference participants also discussed the readiness of the Pakistani army to assist the civil administration.
They ordered the Pakistani army contingents to be ready along with medicines to help the civil administration in no time.
