128 Pakistanis Stranded in Uzbekistan Return on Special PIA Flight

ISLAMABAD The Pakistani Embassy in Tashkent successfully repatriated 128 unknown Pakistani citizens from the Republic of Uzbekistan on a special Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight on Monday.

According to a press release issued by the embassy as a humanitarian gesture, the same flight also brought 22 Uzbek citizens from Pakistan, according to a press release received here.

These Pakistanis are in a difficult situation, including tourists who arrived in the Republic of Uzbekistan on short visas and were unable to return to Pakistan due to the suspension of international flights after the outbreak of COVID-19.

During their stay in Uzbekistan, the Pakistani Embassy in Tashkent took all necessary measures to guarantee the total well-being of these Pakistanis.

The embassy provided food, shelter and medicine to many of these compatriots.

All embassy staff were at Tashkent International Airport during their repatriation to Pakistan to avoid any inconvenience to them.

“We thank all relevant authorities in Uzbekistan for their support and cooperation in ensuring the unhindered repatriation of our citizens,” said a representative of the Pakistani Embassy.
