Television actress Ushna Shah recently faced criticism for criticizing doctors for taking breaks in treating coronavirus patients.
The actress opposed a video that appeared on social media showing how doctors dance in hospital wards.
Ushna went to Instagram on Friday to apologize for her comments. She wrote extensively to explain her position.
Here is what she said:
Hi everyone! I wanted to quickly post this to clarify and apologize for the tweet that caused some insult. I recently tweeted that I had a conflict about the hospital choreography dances that made the rounds, tweeted that while I think healthcare workers deserve a break, I wasn’t sure about the time-consuming practice; These specific dances seemed complicated, from what I saw in the media, hospitals were understaffed, and staff urgently needed to sleep. I wanted to hear everyone’s opinion before forming my opinion, because I was a little embarrassed. However, this instant confusion was dull and unfounded. I don’t work in a hospital, I don’t know why the front lines go through. I honestly don’t even have an opinion on this. Although I recently thanked you on my social networks and other media: let me say it again: THANK YOU. And the fact that I warmly apologized for any insults caused what happened. I have absolutely no way to question anything that doctors and nurses are doing to alleviate acuity. We owe them! I believe in freedom of expression and the right to ask questions, but in this case everything except THANKS to our hard working medical workers is offensive. Absolutely idiotic moment on my part. Thank you for risking your life and continuing to do everything that makes you happy to survive this difficult time, no matter how long it takes.
(With that said, please note that this apology is not for trolls who foam at the mouth and become personal and disrespectful every time they read something they don’t like.) ”
