Students Will Not Be Promoted Without Preliminary Exams As Sindh Launches New Educational Policy

KARACHI: The Steering Committee of the Sindh Department of Education announced on Tuesday a new policy for the period 2020-21 after the closure of educational institutions amid concerns about the coronavirus.

According to the notice, the school year for private and public universities will begin on June 1, and a new session for schools in Cambridge will begin on August 1.

The notice states that students in grades 1-3 will be promoted based on written tests and grades.

Exams in grades 4-8 will be held June 1-15, while examinations in ninth grade and enrollment will be scheduled for June 15.

The ninth-grade results will be published within 60 days, the education department said. Testing for grades 11 and 12 is due to start on July 6, and results for the latter will be released on September 15, according to the notification.

Grade 11 results will be published within 60 days of the end of the exams.

Admission to the ninth grade will begin on June 1 and end on June 10.

Meanwhile, admission to 11th grade will begin after the announcement of the enrollment certificate results, added in the notification.
