Performance of Pakistani coaches of the national team acceptable: Inzamam

Performance of Pakistani coaches

LAHORE: In contrary to the practices of PCB Interim Management Committee Chairman Najam Sethi, Former captain Inzamam-ul Haq believes that Pakistani coaches are competent and have performed pretty well for the national side.

Speaking to the media in the hotel this Wednesday, Inzamam claimed that the local coach was excellent and the national team’s performance could have been better.

“Wins and defeats are part of the game but Pakistan team’s overall performance under local coaches is satisfactory,” Inzamam said.

The former Test cricketers Saqlain Mushtaq (head coach) and Mohammad Yousuf (batting coach) are members of the national team’s current coaching staff.

It is worth noting that Sethi, immediately after taking over last week, in his policy announcement. Stated that he would choose to use the coaching services of foreign coaches for the national team. As well as the National High-Performance Centre, insisting that they were aware of modern cricket more.

Inzamam, in his speech, also stood up for Babar Azam, who, as captain. Suffered defeat in two consecutive test series at home against Australia (0-1) and England (0-3) in the year before.

“Having had the privilege of leading Pakistan in the past, I am aware of the stress of being captain. Every captain becomes better with time, but in Pakistan, some people have a bad tendency of criticising the skipper after a series loss. The hero of the 1992 World Cup-winning squad, Inzamam, said. “In my opinion, there’s no reason for a captain to be changed after winning a few games.

Inzamam ultimately expressed his disagreement with the selection criterion used in the current home series of Tests against New Zealand. Instead of more fielding all-rounders, a starting XI with an equal number of bowlers and hitters would have been preferable.

To a query about the possibility of the return of the former pacer Mohammad Amir. Who quit international cricket in December 2020 in protest of “mental torture” by the team’s management at the time. Inzamam claimed that Amir alone should make the choice for the Pakistani team under the new PCB administration.

Amir’s unilateral choice to continue taking Tests after 2020 infuriated the PCB system at the time. which, despite a clearly declining level of Amir’s on-field performance, gradually dropped the speed bowler from ODI and T20 International matches.

Reports were recently suggesting that Amir might resume Test cricket, which left-armer Amir quit in 2019. With the new PCB management headed by Sethi, the player traveled to his National High-Performance Centre in Lahore to practice
