- Before making a decision, CM Elahi said he will talk with stakeholders.
- Elahi: So yet, no decision had been made in this regard.
- Says Khan was their benefactor and someone they will always remember.
LAHORE: According to a recent admission made by Punjab Chief Minister Parvez Elahi, Imran Khan, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), offered him the position of party president in the province in exchange for the merger of the PML-Q with his organization.
The chief minister made a suggestion last week that the PTI and PML-Q might join. Khan presented the merger plan during a meeting last Friday.
At a ceremony in Lahore, CM Elahi addressed the media and made it plain that his party had to engage its supporters and employees before making any such move.
According to the chief minister, the PML-Q had 10 MPAs in Punjab and they had to first consult the residents of their respective constituencies.
When asked about the show-cause notice PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain served on him, CM Elahi responded Imran.
When asked about the show cause notice PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain sent to him, CM Elahi stated Imran Khan was their benefactor and someone they would never forget.
After Elahi discussed the potential for his party to join the PTI on January 16, the PML-Q suspended his basic party membership.
The notice, a copy of which was also given to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), stated, “Your [Elahi] party membership is suspended till the explanation.”
The statement went on to say that. Elahi’s statements violated all of the PML-rules Q’s and regulations, party discipline, voter base, and distinctive identity.
Speaking on the situation, CM Elahi claimed that people who had given him the show cause felt uneasy.
Additionally, sources claimed that the majority of PTI’s senior leaders were against the merger concept. Because they still think PTI can win the election on its own, they think this might badly weaken the party and only help the PML-Q.
Similarly to this, some top PTI cadre members think the party’s leader should rely on party veterans rather than pursuing a merger with the PML-Q. Whose leadership may ultimately profit from circumstances similar to those that occurred in the instance of Mian Azhar. Considering the cloud of potential disqualification that already hangs over him.
When contacted, senior party leader Shafqat Mehmood dispelled this misconception and claimed no one had objected to this matter.
